What is your creative work?

I’m a visual artist and muralist.

Tell us how you started your business / creative venture?

I had been an ER Nurse for 15 years before I decided to take a leap of faith to pursue my creative passion. I had been creative my entire life but had never explored painting until my husband purchased me a beginner art set for my birthday and sent me to a hotel to paint my heart away.

How long have you been doing your creative work?

3 years now.

What made you choose this journey?

As a kid, I was told by my mom that little black girls didn’t become artists. Being an artist was a hobby at best and I was instead encouraged to become a nurse to support myself.

What kind of struggles did you face in your journey?

I faced the struggles of becoming a first-time entrepreneur and learning not only how to paint and evolve in my craft but also how to market my work.

What is one advice you can give to creatives struggling right now?

If it brings you happiness then pursue it. Always trust the universe you are where you are when you are supposed to be even in daunting times.

Share a quote you live by. It can be yours or something else that inspires you!

Inspire. Create. Repeat.

Are there any products you recommend that helped you better your craft?

Art Resin is a product I swear by. It’s easy to use and less toxic than traditional epoxy.

What are some resources that have helped you succeed and would love to recommend to others?

Networking in general. Always self promote and then turn around and promote others. No one knows the endeavors you are working on unless you share. Share your good along with your bad. You never know who you may inspire.

How can people learn more about you and your business?
