What is your creative work?

Psychedelic paintings and drawings

Tell us how you started your business / creative venture?

My creative venture, Aura Lovechild Arts, honestly started from an overbearing need to place myself in a job I was passionate about and fulfilled my life in multiple areas the way traditional jobs have failed to provide for me.

How long have you been doing your creative work?

The professional side of my creative work started in November 2018. I have been an artist for as long as I can remember, some of the first pieces I did were in art classes at age 6 that my mother very graciously put me in to so young.

What made you choose this journey?

Most days I feel the journey chose me. I want others to see my strength and vulnerability to understand the duality of life.

What kind of struggles did you face in your journey?

Personally, I believe we all have struggles but the way we frame them in our mind can either help us or hinder us. That being said, I don’t view my hardships as road blocks I view them as stepping stones. To answer the question, my art was born out of complex traumas that have taken place all throughout my life; from mental health struggles to being the victim of a violent crime to abuse in traditional jobs. I choose to use my art as a way to heal those hurts and let others know they are never alone.

Share a quote you live by. It can be yours or something else that inspires you!

“You are a LIGHT & I SEE YOU!” This is my own quote that I handwrite to every person who buys my art. I have always felt unseen and I know I cannot be alone in that feeling so I want others to know I see their beauty, I see their hearts.

Are there any products you recommend that helped you better your craft?

If you paint, PRIME YOUR CANVAS WITH GESSO! Also, Posca Pens have changed how quickly I am able to create and I highly recommend them.

How can people learn more about you and your business?

What are some resources that have helped you succeed?

Social media is a great promotional tool, learn how to use it the right way and it works for you! I also check Artwork Archive’s website monthly for grant opportunities and national shows to enter, as well as looking in to your local art galleries.
